My office team and I stayed at the Hilton City Ave. for a conference being held there. I have to say I was not really that impressed. First of all, the location is not that great. It's a 20 min-20 dollar cab ride to all the "action" in Philly. If you're not familiar with the area the website can be misleading, as it's not walking distance to anything.
The restaurant selection in the immediate area leaves much to be desired as well. The only restaurant you can walk to is a Chili's- we ate lunch there. We ended up staying in for dinner on the second night and ate at Delmonico's. The steaks were awesome and our waiter was great. The Polo Lounge on the other hand was not so good. The staff was downright rude at times, and the food was just OK (my salad had brown lettuce in it).
Some of the hotel staff were friendly, some not so much. Rooms and decor were clean and modern and the beds were really comfy. Oh, the outlet in the bathroom must have some sort of governor on it because my hairdryer ran soooo slow! I was not
a happy camper! I know- petty maybe, but it took me a half hour to dry my hair! I'm a woman, these things are important! :)
Overall, just OK. If you want to see Philadelphia and all it has to offer without going broke on cab rides, don't stay here!! If you have to stay for a conference in the hotel you'll be OK!!
