Aruba a very driver friendly island. Driving is on the right side, roads are good, and gasoline and car rentals are reasonable (as cheap as $160 per week). On the negative side, traffic is heavy on the main road through Orangestad and other roads are not well marked but it’s hard to get very lost as the island is small and there are only a few main roads.
Getting a car (booths convenient at the airport) is simple and by-passes the bus transfer to your hotel). Many hotels have a rental desk or companies will bring your car to your hotel (in case you only want to rent for a day or two). Jeeps cost 2-3x as much as a small Toyota or Suzuki. Other than a wild off-road excursion, a jeep is not necessary. Take a 0ne day Jeep Safari and rent a small car for the rest of your trip. Hotels have ample free parking .
