US citizens and others (see list below) are required to pay a reciprocity fee when entering Chile at SCL. This fee is paid before going through Immigrations and Customs. The fee may be paid by credit card or cash. You will receive a stamp and proof of payment receipt in your passport which will be good for the life of that passport.

For Australians the fee is only good for the 90 days not the life of the passport.

The US$ 131 fee is charged to US citizens to enter Chile because the United States charges Chileans US$ 100 to apply for a visa. For Chileans it has to be paid whether they are granted a visa or not. Those entering Chile from a land/water crossing, are in airside-only international transit at SCL or entering Chile at an airport other than SCL are not required to pay the fee.

Nationalities which pay a reciprocal fee:

USA US$ 131
Australia US$ 56
Canada US$ 132
Mexico US$ 15
