With no central tourist office available in St Petersburg, major hotels are the best source of information.  Their service desks will provide you with all necessary information, book tours and arrange transportation. There are some reliable privately-run companies, such as Intourist or Mir Travel Company, that would be happy to arrange private or group tours and book theater tickets.
