One of Maui’s most popular shows is called Ulalena and is a musical show that features a cast of 20 performing song and dance numbers that reflect the island’s colorful history. It’s held in the Maui Myth and Magic Theatre on Front Street in Lahaina, and dinner-theatre packages are sometimes available.
Many of the restaurants in Lahaina also have live music nightly, and if you’re in the mood to see some bigger acts, venture over to the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, which contains the Castle Theater for concert performances and weekly film screenings, a large amphitheater for outdoor concerts, and the smaller McCoy Theater that is home to many plays and recitals throughout the year.
If you’d like to see local performers, the Maui Academy of Performing Arts and the Maui Community Theatre in Wailuku put on plays and concerts year-round.
A few miles north of Lahaina the Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar play traditional island music and "talk story" at the Napili Kai Beach Resort every Wednesday evening. It's an opportunity to meet some of Hawaii's best entertainers in the concert-like setting of the resorts intimate Hale Aloha pavilion. Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Concert Series
