Visited this park recently and were very pleasantly surprised. kids really enjoyed Bat's boat barn where they used old fashioned tools to their hearts' content. The Stephen's house amazed them when the hallway split and suddenly they were back outside again -- what an amazing design! Very different from CT where houses were designed to keep in warmth.
The kids also enjoyed the schoolroom, drawing pictures of lizards on the chalkboard, and playing school at the desks and pretending the lunch pails were theirs. They enjoyed fanning themselves in the church, checking out the outhouse, garden and laundry facilities at the stephens house. The bantam chickens were a big hit and they really seemed to go nuts for the little bits of green grass, etc the kids pushed through the fence.
Oh, and the train! One of the nice things about this museum is that because it's free and minimally staffed, they were free to discover things at their own pace. They spent lots of time checking out the train (how cool that they let you on it!) and just meandering about with the guide brochure, learning about Florida's past.
